CfP: Annual workshop WK HSM

Attached, you’ll find the call for papers for the upcoming workshop of the VHB WK HSM. Prof. Dr. Joachim Prinz and his team will welcome you on February 15-16, 2018 in Duisburg. The workshop covers all issues releated to higher education management, in particular pay for performance and rankings, accreditations, third party funding, career development and personnel training, quality management, peer review, and digitalization.

CfP: 2017 EFMD Higher Education Research Conference

This year’s EFMD Higher Education research conference will take place on 23-24 October 2017 in Leuven, Belgium. It will be hosted by KU Leuven.

EFMD welcomes and encourages submissions of research work within the following three areas of academic enquiry:

  • Track 1: Interdisciplinarity and the challenges for governance, incentive structures, faculty management, and autonomy/organisation of business schools and HEIs in general
  • Track 2: Interdisciplinarity and its impact in management education and research
  • Track 3: Innovations in management education and research
  • EFMD-EDAMBA Track 4: We have a special EFMD-EDAMBA track for PhDs this year. EDAMBA is the European Doctoral Association in Management and Business Administration

Outline papers can be submitted until 30 April 2017.

CfP: EFMD Higher Education Research Conference 2017

From 23-24 October this year’s EFMD Higher Education Research Conference will take place  in Leuven, Belgium.The conference will focus on “Impact and interdisciplinarity in management education and research”.

The three tracks of the conference will be:

Track 1: Interdisciplinarity and the challenges for governance, incentive structures, faculty management, and autonomy/organisation of business schools and HEIs in general
Track 2: Interdisciplinarity and its impact in management education and research
Track 3: Innovations in management education and research.

Outline papers of around 2000 words dealing with the conferences topics can be submitted until 30 April 2017. Further information can be found  in the Call for papers.

Call for Papers „Leistungsbewertung in der Wissenschaft – Perspektiven aus Forschung, Praxis und Politik“

On the 25th & 26th of January 2017 the conference „Leistungsbewertung in der Wissenschaft – Perspektiven aus Forschung, Praxis und Politik“ takes place at the Vorhoelzer Forum of the TU Munich.

Participants of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research funding line „Leistungsbewertung in der Wissenschaft“ will present results of their research projects. Scholars who are not part of the funding line can also submit presentations about research on topics like performance indicators, or digitalization and performance measurement. Keynotes will be held by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Bruno Frey, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Margit Osterloh, Prof. Dr. Stefan Kühl, Dr. Ulrich Schreiterer and Prof. Dr. Birgitta Wolff.

CfP: WK Higher Education Management @ HSU

We’re co-hosting the upcoming conference of the Scientific Commission Higher Education Management (Wissenschaftliche Kommission Hochschulmanagement im VHB) on February 21-22, 2017 at the HSU Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg.

Abstracts (max. 1000 words excluding references) of articles dealing with the management of higher education institutions can be submitted until December 23rd 2016. The main topic is “Third party funding in higher education”. But there is also the possibility to submit papers in other areas of interest, among them:

  • New forms of governance of universities
  • Measurability of research performance
  • Open access, social media, and ctizen science
  • Peer evaluation, performance indicators, and rankings
  • Autonomy of science

CfP: German Association for Higher Education Research (GfHf)

The 12th Annual Conference of the German Association for Higher Education Research (GfHf) has announced its call for papers. The theme of the conference is “Digitalization of universities: Research, teaching, and administration”.

The conference will take place at the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW) in Hanover from 30 – 31 April 2017.

GfHf   

The conference also explicitly welcomes contributions from disciplines beyond higher education and scientific research that address research questions in the context of digitalization in higher education and science systems. Exemplary relevant research questions can be found in the full call for papers.

Abstracts (max. 1,000 words) shall be submitted until 31 October 2016.

CfP – Journal for Higher Education Development (ZFHE)

Dear colleagues,
We would like to inform you about a recent call for papers. The Journal for Higher Education Development (“ZFHE Zeitschrift für Hochschulentwicklung”) is a journal offering (at least) one English issue every year. Next year’s second issue is on the topic of “Structuring Doctoral Education”. It is edited by Alexandra Bitusikova (Matej Bel University), Lucy Johnson (University of Newcastle), Brigitte Lehmann (Humboldt Graduate School in Berlin), Rebekah Smith McGloin (University of Coventry) und Lucas Zinner (University of Vienna). The submission deadline for your empirical or conceptual contribution is October 28th, 2016; the publication is planned for June 2017. The 2016 Technology Transfer Society (T2S) Conference will be held from November 3-5, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona. The conference theme is on Innovative Mechanisms for the Exchange of New Knowledge. Contributions may include the following areas:

CfP: 2016 EFMD Higher Education Research Conference

This year’s EFMD Higher Education Research Conference will take place at IESE Business School Barcelona on October 10-11, 2016. The main focus is on “Innovation in Higher Education” and the organizing committee invites submissions to the following areas: (1) Innovations in forms of governance, management and organisation of higher education institutions, (2) Innovations in education, or (3) Innovations in research.

CfP: 8. ZSM junior meeting on 28th & 29th October 2016 in Magdeburg: „Hochschulen als Organisation und die Organisation von Hochschulen– Reformen des Wissenschaftsbetriebs in Theorie und Praxis.“

On 28th & 29th October 2016 the junior meeting of the “Zentrum für Sozialweltforschung und Methodenentwicklung” (ZSM) titled „Hochschulen als Organisation und die Organisation von Hochschulen– Reformen des Wissenschaftsbetriebs in Theorie und Praxis.“ takes place at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, faculty of human sciences.

The meeting wants to provide a forum of exchange for junior scholars of all disciplines concerned with higher education research. The aim of the meeting is to connect researchers of different disciplines concerned with topics like new governance mechanisms in academia, changing views of science or changing power relations in higher education.

Paper proposals (max. 3000 characters) or posters (max. 1500 characters) presenting results of empirical, theoretical or conceptual work can be submitted until 31st May to zsm@ovgu.de. For further information take a look at the call for papers.

CfP: Conference on Higher Education Partnership Trends and Policy Issues between African and European Higher Education Institutions

The conference is organized by the Workgroup “Higher Education and Society in Africa” and will take place at Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS), University of Bayreuth on 3-4 November 2016.

CfP: Special Issue on ‘Theories from the Lab’ in JMS

The Journal of Management Studies (JMS) has issued a call for paper on “‘Theories from the Lab’: How Research on Science Commercialization can Contribute to Management Studies.” The special issue points to an important origin of the scientific knowledge and technology being commercialized – the research laboratory. And it connotes our belief that the science commercialization context can serve as a laboratory for researchers seeking to advance our understanding of key issues in management and organization studies.

The special issue will be edited by Riccardo Fini (University of Bologna, Italy), Einar Rasmussen (University of Nordland Business School, Norway), Johan Wiklund (Syracuse University, USA), and Mike Wright (Imperial College Business School London, UK). CfP: 10th International EUREDOCS Ph.D. Workshop

EUREDOCS is a network of European doctoral students working on issues related to the Europeanization of higher education and research. It is sponsored by several European higher education research institutes and aims to facilitate and enable more communication among doctoral students in the field. The 10th workshop will take place on 27-28 May 2016 at the Society for Research into Higher Education in London. Deadline for submission of proposals is on 11 January 2016. Here’s a call for contributions for the 18th International Conference on Higher Education. The scholarly conference provides an interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to discuss recent trends and and developments in the field of higher education. CfP: German Association for Higher Education Research (GfHf)

The 11th Annual Conference of the German Association for Higher Education Research (Gesellschaft für Hochschulforschung GfHf) has announced its call for papers. The conference takes place on April 06-08 2016 at the Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Studies and Planning (IHF).

The main theme is “New forms of governance in universities and research institutes: Current state of research and future perspectives”. Sub themes are (1) Opportunities and limitations of state involvement (2) External governance (3) Academic self-governance (4) Hierarchical self-governance (5) Competition.
